What is UBLAC?

Utah Black Artists Collective

Founded by Schkyra Morning & Jayrod Garrett in July of 2020, UBLAC began as a gathering of Black creatives seeking a way to come together and share their work with the Utah community. We seek to bring #BLACKJOY to all people through our collective artistic expression.

Because the African American population in Utah is so small, UBLAC is a much-needed organization and valuable resource connecting artists of color throughout the state.

We seek to inspire others through voices of diversity, amplifying the cultural presence of Utah’s vibrant and talented Black artists, musicians, performers, poets, authors, dancers, and creatives of any kind.

UBLAC also strongly supports the advancement of the arts amongst our youth. We strive to provide shining examples of Black talent to inspire and educate through performances and presentations specifically for children and students. We offer a unique mentorship program supporting individual up-and-coming young artists.
